Lowell Film Festival Rules & Guidelines
Eligibility:
All films must be primarily made by Lowell High School students (grades 9-12).
Films must be original and creative.
Technical requirements:
Films must be submitted in a digital format (MP4, MOV, or AVI).
FILMS MUST BE FILMED HORIZONTALLY
Films must be between 3 and 7 minutes in length.
Awards & Selection:
Once movies pass the first round of selection to be screened at Lowell Film Festival, the following awards will be available:
Best Film Award
People's Award
A panel of judges will select the films that will be screened at the Festival and award the Best Film Award.
The judges will consider the following criteria:
Originality
Creativity
Technical quality
Storytelling
Inappropriate content:
You agree that you will not submit any content that is libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually, racially, culturally, or ethnically offensive, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, discriminatory or abusive.
This includes content that is violent, sexual, or hateful.
Copyrighted material:
Filmmakers must own the copyright to their films.
You should not show any material that you do not have the rights to show. This could include copyrighted music, movies, or other works.
Personal information:
You should not show any personal information about other people without their consent. This could include their name, address, or phone number.
Anything that could be considered bullying or harassment:
This includes anything that is mean or hurtful to another person.
It is important to remember that high school film competitions are meant to be a positive and supportive environment for young filmmakers. By following these guidelines, you can help to ensure that everyone has a good experience.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when creating a film for Lowell Film Festival:
Be respectful of others. This includes avoiding content that is offensive or harmful.
For example, if your film is about a sensitive topic like racism or sexism, make sure you handle it in a sensitive and respectful way.
Be original. Don't just copy someone else's work.
This is your chance to show the world your creativity and talent, so don't waste it by plagiarizing someone else's work.
